“Blaze” is a watercolor and photo-collage print that is made through a digital process by combining a film photo with watercolor sketches. This piece is a response to the changes to the California environment due to the wildfires. A mottled gray sky obscured the otherwise beaming sun, turning its golden rays into a scarlet silhouette, at once both beautiful and devastating. The watercolor brushwork in the background represents the hazy smoke and the unusual scent of ashes suspended in the atmosphere.
