Rock Rock Around the Block
Rock Rock Around the Block is a fun and engaging public art installation that uses movement to explore playfulness and intimacy in an otherwise busy financial district. As two people coordinate their bodies and seats to the rocking base, they will set into motion a gentle back and forth motion. An oval frame encircles the piece, creating a space for soothing motions, conversations, and delight.
It is one of 36 pieces showing at the Market Street Prototyping Festival, an amazing street-wide festival full of installation artists, architects, designers, and makers from all over the Bay who are building the future of what Market Street will look like through interactive art. Over 100 people submitted ideas and I am lucky to have been one of thirty chosen ideas that are selected to become temporary design installations (prototypes).
